Adam Aronson Fine Arts Center at Laumeier Sculpture Park
This sculptural building, designed by Trivers, welcomes visitors to one of the most prestigious open-air museums in the country. The shape of the building vaguely evokes a barn, as it sits at the edge of suburban St. Louis and rural Missouri. The multi-use space has a wide-open interior to serve as either a gallery and/or an event venue. The lighting is flexible and responds to the various potential uses with grace.
On the exterior, recessed in-grade light fixtures emphasize the striking architecture by highlighting the curved soffit without grazing the wall or "leaking" light through the glass to the interior. Once inside the lobby, concealed linear lights illuminate signage and the linear pattern continues across the ceiling. LED lights accentuate retail products in the shelving units. In the gallery, trimless recessed tracks, fitted with high CRI LED lamps, fit quietly into the shape of the space while providing total flexibility for gallery displays or events.
