The Institute at Hendersonville

GE Current, a Daintree Company traces its roots to Thomas Edison and the invention of the incandescent lamp. This training facility was designed to celebrate the past while looking ahead to the future. As the lighting designers, we wanted to incorporate as many of their products as possible without making the space feel contrived. We celebrated the local stone wall by grazing to bring out texture. We incorporated L-shaped luminaires as a nod to the facility's previous name, "Lamp Lighter Hall". Good lighting in a lecture hall, classrooms, offices, and lobby are expected in a training center – it’s the collaboration space that conceptually connects this facility with their truly innovative factory next door and takes it to the next level.  Here lighting shows off, inspires, goes big, bold, and bright.  It’s a networking space that envelops designers in architecturally stimulating design and pushes the boundaries just enough to be the “wow” that motivates them to go do something creative!
Check out the 5-minute video below, created by Lytei. Watch for cameo appearances by ELD designers Lisa Reed and Liz Arras!
